Reindeer Tower

Hello, today I wanted to show you this card. I did a sneak peak on Instagram a couple of weeks ago and I finally found the time to post it now.
Currently, I reaaally love kraft cardstock. That's why I wanted to do some fun coloring directly on kraft. I used the reindeers from Mama Elephant and the little santa from Create A Smile and stamped a reindeer tower. I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used masks to stamp the reindeers and santa.

Because I don't own any color pencil currently, I used the watercolor pencils from Faber Castell which worked also really well. I also used some Glossy Accents on top of the reindeers' noses and a gold gel pen on the reindeers' collars.

I didn't want to include a sentiment on this one because I found it speaks for itself. It was kind of hard to take a picture of it in my photo box because the white always reflected on the kraft cardstock. That's why the card seems to "glow"...

Thanks for picking me up

Hello and welcome back to another card I created. This time I used a digi by Craftin Desert Divas and it's the first time that I actually use a digi stamp. Had some trouble with my printer who always ate my paper... But I managed in the end using Neenah cardstock. I colored the hedgehog with Spectrum Noir markers (fur: EB2, GB8, GB10, prickles: TN7, TN8, EB5, eyes: IB3, BT6, BT8, flower: CT1, CT2, CT3; CR10, DR2, pumpkin: OR1, OR2, OR3; TN7, TN8; JG1, JG6) and also applied some glossy accents to her eyes and nose.

I wanted to create a nice seen for the little hedgehog and chose a pumpkin stamp from a fall set by Some Odd Girl. Using a masking technique,  I stamped multiple pumpkins. Because I wanted to use Distress inks for my background, I applied Pebeo Drawing Gum to the pumpkins to protect them from the ink. After the drawing gum dried completely, I chose brushed corduroy for the ground and abandoned coral, dried marigold, and squeezed lemonade for the sky. After the ink was dry, the drawing gum could be removed. To color in the pumpkins I used Zig markers (52, 70; 47, 44).

I used kraft cardstock as a cardbase and placed my background panel on it. And... I didn't like it. The colors were far to bright and the hedghog wouldn't get the attention it deserved. That's when I used vellum and placed it over the szene. And I love how it dulls the color just a tiny bit. Then I was on the lookout for a convenient sentiment. I had several options in the end but decided to go with the "Thanks for picking me up" sentiment from Mama Elephant which I thought was really nice because the hedgehog had, kind of, picked up the pumpkin from the ones in the background. I stamped it with VersaMark on the vellum and embossed it with Mandarin embossing powder from WOW.

Snow or mostly white - Simply Create Too #99

Good morning! Today starts another challenge at the Simply Create Challenge Blog with the topic Snow or mostly white. Go check out the challenge and link up your creations!

I have to say that it took me some time to create this card. I think it is not easy to make a card that has mostly white colors in it. Well, I cheated a bit and used white and light blue but I think it works! :)

This was the perfect opportunity to use the snowflake die from the Create A Smile Snow Dance kit. And because I love, love, love shaker cards, I had to create one with this beautiful die. First, I adhered some acetate behind the window (which I, again, forgot at first and I had to remove the foam tape that I've already put down) and used a ton of foam tape to create a shaker poket. I filled it with clear irridescent sequins and clear beads. Behind the pocket, I adhered some of the white/light blue striped pattern paper from the Snow Dance kit.

The last time I was in England I bought another card making magazine with some adorable images. The stamps are not good quality and I had to stamp a few to get a crisp image but they are just too cute. I colored the polar bear with Spectrum Noir markers (fur: Blender, IG1, IG2, IG4; scarf: IB1, BT3, ice skates: IG6, IG8) and adhered him with foam squares to the shaker panel.

Because I forgot to stamp the sentiment on the front panel before adhering it with foam tape to the background, I decided to use another stripe of white cardstock, emboss it with silver embossing powder on both sides and stamp the sentiment "Frohe Weihnachten" (Merry Christmas). I used Tumbled Glass Distress ink to stamp the sentiment because it had the perfect light blue shade to math the scarf of the polar bear.

Wobbly Christmas

Hello crafy friends, today I wanted to show you another interactive Christmas card.  I used images from My Favorite Things, stamped them on Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers.

For my background I used Gansai Tambi watercolors which give a really bright look. Unfortunately, I currently forgot which colors I used but I will add the information later. I put some color down onto a slick surface, sprayed it with water, and pressed my mixed media paper into the color to create this spotty look. After it dried completely, I adhered it to a slightly larger dark green panel.

I adhered down the tree and the little girl but for the santa I wanted somthing more fun. I have seen some cards using wobble springs. I didn't have any but found this YouTube video showing how you can make your own using thin thin wire. Fortunately, my local drug store had thin wire in stock. I also tried it with smaller images but because the spring itself has to be smaller, it didn't work as well as with this larger image.

I also wanted to include a sentiment I used a German one from Create A Smile, stamped it on black cardstock with VersaMark ink and embossed it with white embossing powder.

Merry Christmas (Mama Elephant)

Hello, today I am showing you another set of Christmas cards that I made using one of the newer Mama Elephant stamp sets! Aren't the images just adorable?
First of all I stamped the little elves and pinguins on Neenah white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers.

I wanted to keep the background rather simple. For that reason I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and applied it with a blending tool in swirly motions on some mixed media paper by Canson. I tried to fad it out as best as I could

Below the distressed area,  I stamped the sentiment that is included in the set with VersaMark ink and embossed it with silver embossing powder by wow.
The, I adhered the distressed panel on a kraft card base (I just love kraft!) and also adhered the elves and pinguins in the center of the panel using 3D foam squares.

That's when I thought that something was missing. The top of the card had to much white space and I didn't really like it. And then I remembered the Baker's Twine that I recently ordered and included some white and green twine.
I poked a whole through the fold of the cardbase and wrapped the twine around, tying a little bow on the right side. I adhered the bow into place with a glue dot because it didn't want to stay where and how I wanted it.
