Miss you (in the moonlight)
Zunächst habe ich den kleinen Elefanten Ellie und den Ballon mit Archival Jet Black Ink auf Aquarellpapier gestempelt und mit meinen Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens koloriert (Ellie: 91, 94, 95; Ballon: 20, 29, 26). Um sie vor den Distress Inks zu schützen, die ich für den Hintergrund verwendet habe, habe ich die mit Pebeo Drawing Gum maskiert. Jedoch habe ich nicht beachtet, dass die Zig Pens wasserbasierend sind, weshalb der Drawing Gum die Farben noch stärker miteinander verwischt hat (was ich ja eigentlich nicht wollte, nachdem ich die Motive sorgfältig koloriert habe...). Das nächste mal würde ich zwar trotzdem diese Maskingmethode verwenden, den Drawing Gum jedoch auf die unkolorierten Motive auftragen und erst anschließend kolorieren.
Um den Hintergrund zu kreieren, habe ich mir Masken erstellt, um den Hügel und den Himmel zu schützen, wenn ich jeweils an dem anderen Part arbeite. Ebenso habe ich noch einen Kreis ausgeschnitten, um den Mond zu erzeugen. Als erstes habe ich an dem Hügel gearbeitet. Dafür habe ich nach Platzierung der Maske Fossiled Amber verwendet und den oberen Teil des Hügels koloriert, der am hellsten sein soll, da er vom Mondlicht erleuchtet wird. Danach habe ich Mowed Lawn und dann Pine Needles verwendet. Um den Schatten hinter Ellie zu erzeugen, habe ich mehr Pine Needles verwendet, nachdem alles andere getrocknet war. Dann habe ich den Hügel mit der Maske angeklebt und am Himmel gearbeitet. Ich habe mich vom Mond nach außen vorgearbeitet und habe als erstes Mustard Seed verwendet. Anschließend habe ich mit Salty Ocean und Chipped Sapphire gearbeitet und versucht die Farben so gut wie möglich zu blenden. Um dem Himmel nicht etwas mehr Struktur zu geben, habe ich ihn mit meinem Mini Mister bespritzt und anschließend mit größere Wassertropfen betropft.
Für den Mond habe ich wieder meine Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens verwendet (91, 94). Anschließend habe ich dem Drawing Gum entfernt und musste den Ballon und den Elefanten noch einmal erneut kolorieren bzw. verbessern. Das verwendete Sentiment stammt von My Favorite Things ("Penguin Party" vom Sentiment "I miss you. That is all.") und wurde mit VersaMark gestempelt und mit weißem Embossingpulver embosst.
Abschließend habe ich das Panel auf dunkelblauen Karton geklebt. Der weiße Rand entstand durch Washitape, das ich zur Fixierung des Panels verwendet habe.
Today I wanted to show you a card I wanted to create for a long time. I was inspired by Lawn Fawns Design Team Member Nicole who postet a tutorial on Youtube. Also, it's a great card for my new stamp set by Avery Elle so I had to make my own version.
First, I stamped the elephant and the balloon on watercolor carstock using Archival Jet Black Ink and colored them with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (Ellie: 91, 94, 95; balloon: 20, 29, 26). To protect them from the Distress Inks I wanted to use for the background, I masked them with Pebeo Drawing Gum. But I didn't keep in mind that the Zig pens are waterbased. Therefore the Drawing Gum blended the colors when I applied it (what I didn't want since I put a lot of effort in the coloring...). The next time I would still use this masking method but I would color my images afterwards.
To create the background, I made some masks to protect the hill and the sky while working on the other part. I also cut out a circle to create the moon. First, I worked on the hill. For that, I first used Fossiled Amber and started at the upper part since it would be the lightest part of the hill due to the moonlight. Then, I used Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles working my way down. To create the shadow behind Ellie, I just used some more Pine Needles after everything was dry. To work on the sky, I protected the hill with a mask and worked my way from the moon to the margins of the panel. I started with Mustard Seed, then Salty Ocean, and Chipped Saphire and blended them as well as I could. To give the sky a bit of structure, I spritzed some water on it using my Mini Mister. I also used some larger water drops.
I colored the moon with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens (91, 94) and removed the Drawing Gum. Since it blended the colors of my images, I had to re-color them. The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things stamp set "Penguins in Paradise" (from the sentiment: I miss you. That is all.). I stamped it with VersaMark and embossed it with white embossing powder.
To finish off my card, I adhered the watercolor panel to a dark blue, slightly larger one. The white border was created by the washi tape I used to secure my panel to my work surface.
